The Sunflower Blues Fest

So..I promised more about my weekend. There are soo many photos to go through so I am just going to put a few on her and the rest you can see in a few days on my flickr account. (www.flickr.com/redbanks626) First of all if you have never gone to the Sunflower Festival in Clarksdale, MS and you are local...you really should. Its free to the public and pretty soon the only way you will hear these guys sing is on recordings. There aren't very many of the older generation left. Thats not to say there isn't an enormous amount of new talent in this generation and the next generation, but there is something special about seeing the orginals :=) . Unfortunately, there was no way that we could see everyone that played. Music was everywhere....inside, outside stages, street performers, Reds, Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero...everywhere. Here are just a few things that I saw this weekend:

Wow..what a great last few days...

First of all ...Friday was my 10 year anniversary! I can't belive its been a decade all ready. (Love you baby!! ) Since we have soo much on our plate we decided to just take ourselves out to eat at Kyotos. I love love sushi and habachi grilling. The chefs make it soo much fun and we sat next to this sweet young couple that had just gotten married two days ago. She wants to be a photographer so we talked shop for a bit. Can't believe I didn't get her take a photo of us... Shame on me..lol Look at this all this yummy food. Wish I still had leftovers. Oh.. the top center photo is Mississippi Flower roll..crabmeat..cream cheese..all kinds of yummy goodness..

more to come..gotta go fix my tire before it goes completely flat in my drive way..but I really do want to tell ya about going down to Clarksdale for the Sunflower Blues Fest...got some awesome photos... Check back in a bit. :-)

Miss Emma

I had such fun taking photos of Emma. Thank you soo much for inviting me into your home Jennifer and Ernie! We set our shoot up on the beautiful deck outside and if you know anything about the weather in August in Memphis we were drenched in sweat even in the coolest part of the morning. lol However, Ms Emma was trooper. We got some super sweet shots of her and mom and dad. They will be up in your client gallery before weeks end. I will send you an email Jennifer. :-)

Little Miss Z

I had to wait almost 2 months to get my hands on this little lady. My first sight of her was through the glass in the NICU. No Aunts allowed. :-( ...but it was worth the wait. Isn't she beautiful and such a little chunker now.

We won! We Won!

We are going to Vegas for Nationals baby!! Woot! Woot!

I started off the whole event at 7pm Friday night. The team captain said that I would bring us Birthday luck for the weekend. I won my match and that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the weekend. We never lost. By the time that we completed play on Saturday..actually it was 3am so it was Sunday..we knew we were playing for Vegas.

So August 23rd to the 29th, we will be in Vegas for this http://www.poolplayers.com/ntc.html. All expenses paid...well airfare, hotel and rental car.. We are going to do fundraisers for spending money.

So far this day has been spent packing and getting ready for our APA Regional Pool competition at the Isle of Capri Casino.

Our team has been together for 6 years and have come soo close several times. If we win, we get an all expense paid trip to LAS VEGAS!! for Nationals. I have never been to Vegas so it would be soo cool if we won. Maybe my birthday will bring us good luck. :-)

Lighting Workshop

Saturday I had the opportunity to learn tricks and tips from local Memphis photographers about lighting. We had several lighting stations set up around a pool. We were shown shade, mixed shade/light, stobes, off camera lighting, and natural lighting. The boys wanted bikini models for the pool. Imagine their surprise when two of the four were FOURTEEN. lol Mom was present for the entire event, but I still felt more comfortable taking head shots of the teens. Here are a few:

Morningness

This week I started participating in a great project : Morningness. A group of photographers from Twopeas will be posting shots of their mornings on http://dailymorningness.blogspot.com/ It so wonderful to see a different perspectives from different photographers around the world.

My contribution today:
Since I have the day off, I was actually able to sit down and eat breakfast. I wanted to sit outside, but at 8:45am it was already 82 degrees and 76% humidity. Didn't take long to take myself back inside. lol

:Megan + Kyle:

What a gorgeous wedding! You could not ask for better weather for June in Mississippi. Plus, the setting...what bride wouldn't want to get married in a turn of the century antebellum mansion ala "Gone With The Wind". I have known Megan since she was born. In fact, her mother and I are first cousins. When I asked her at Christmas what she planned to do after graduation, she said "Get Married"..."but don't you want to go to college first?".... "uh..I am graduating from college in May..not Highschool".. Opps. Time really does pass you bye quickly.

Megan and Kyle..Thank you for allowing me to part of your day!! Here is a quick preview of a few that I have edited..More to Come :-)
